This could be a serious threat for Google Adsense as Microsoft is now testing its new project which was formerly known as AdCenter (Well, the Name still remains the same). Its a contextual ads service similar to Google Adsense and Yahoo Publisher Network but in a self-serve format.

Its like a monopoly business for Google in this field of contextual ads because its global and offers better revenue for publishers. Yahoo and Microsoft have made up for that shortfall by offering guarantees in the past. Or in the case of Yahoo, by offering more flexible products like allowing their ads to be shown next to third party search results.
Microsoft AdCenterThis test is being run by some selected Advertisers and Publishers from USA from 21st July, 2008. No wonder Microsoft will get big response as soon as it opens for public as it do not require exclusivity. You can rub this ads along with other contextual ad provider as long as you do not sing any agreement with them.
A Microsoft spokesperson says this trial has actually been underway since earlier this year with a small group of publishers, but won’t say when or if this will officially roll out publicly. The worst part is that its still for publishers from USA only like old AdCenter leaving Google Adsense a far better choice for Publishers.
