We can see some hike of affiliate marketing over general ad network lately, a lot of publishers are doing quite well (even better) with affiliate marketing.

There are few similarities between Network Ads (like Adsense ) and Affiliate Marketing, but the differences are quite noticeable.

1. The niche of the site plays a huge role in CPC for the network ads as its keyword and market competition dependent. In case of Affiliate Marketing, you choose the affiliates to put on your site, thus the niche is not that important.

2. You have to choose the affiliates carefully. Like, if you have a mobile phone review site, Affiliation with a mobile phone sales site can be a huge success. In case of Network ads, the crawl your site and then sends the related ads.

3. You will be paid for each click or impression in Network Ads, but the click have to be converted in a sell in case of affiliate ads.

4. CPC always varies for Network Ads its way too low for Affiliate Sell, i.e you get $0.10 (assumed) for a click regardless of the conversion at the Advertisers end. But, for the affiliate link of that same advertiser, you won’t get paid for if the click do not convert in to a sell, if the click converts, you will get much more than $0.10

Theres a lot more, but these are the main differences I guess. In both of the cases, you have to have some good traffic to get success. I will come up with a list of some reputable Affiliate Marketing sites soon, stay tuned.
