I know a lot of new webmasters find it really difficult to get indexed in Search Engines link Google, Yahoo or MSN quickly. It normally takes 2 to 3 weeks for a new site to get indexed in Google. So, I decided to research on quick indexing and found some really good ways to get indexed very quickly, specially in Google.

If you have a small Site or Blog, the best way to get indexed in real time (not really) is to get quality backlink. Digging (digg.com) or Stumbling (stumbleupon.com) won’t help much as majority of the Social Bookmaring sites usages nofollow tags for external links. So, get a link from a high pr page to the page you want to get indexed.

But, for a site with huge number of pages, its literally not possible to get backlinks for each of them. So, you have to use a sitemap for submitting all your pages to Search Engines. If you don’t know what a sitemap is, Sitemap.org will give you some idea. Its besically a xml file contains the link of all your website’s pages placed at the root directory of your site.
To make this whole process simpler, theres some free plugin available for Wordpress, Joomla and other CMS. If you have a normal static html site, you can also use Online Sitemap Generator services. These plugins/tools autometically generates the sitemap as soon as you update the site and notify the search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN or ASK about it and put the sitemap is queue for the spiders to crawl.

When you have the sitemap ready, go to Google Webmaster Tools and submit your site there (Every major Search Engines, like Yahoo or MAS, has their own Wenmaster Tools). You need to verify your ownership first. Don’t worry, it takes about 2-3 minutes to do so.

Remember, frequent updated sites gets crawled frequently by Google so the chances of your new page getting indexed quickly is high.

You can also use meta tags to tell the spiders when they should comeback and check for the update in sitemap, but this method is now almost obsulate.
<meta name=”sitemap” location=”sitemap.xml”>
<meta name=”revisit-after” content=”15 days”>

Theres a myth that getting strong backlink to the sitemap xml file will force spiders to crawl it. But, the fact is, it will just help Search Engines to index the sitemap, not to crawl it.
